Patrick Roy Colorado Avalanche McFarlane Figure

Midway through production McFarlane decided that the Montreal jersey and the Third (Maroon) Colorado Jersey Roy figures looked too similar next to each other, and requested a paint switch. Specifically, the 12-inch Colorado Roy was to be produced in the White Road jersey only. Nevertheless, The entire original run of 12-inch Colorado Roy figures were still made with the maroon third jersey.

Following the announcement of the 12-inch NHL line, U.S. customers asked if TMP would sell some through the Spawn Store. Wal-Mart Canada did not object as long as the company only sold to U.S. customers. TMP told the factory to make a limited run of both 12-inch NHL figures versions of Roy (Montreal Roy, and Colorado 3rd Jersey Roy) to be sold exclusivly in the Spawn Store. However, because this was a separate run, the factory switched to the white road jersey for the Colorado Roy figure based on the earlier request from TMP. The factory apparently assumed that the white road jersey was still preferred by TMP and so produced the limited number of figures ordered for the Spawn Store with the white jersey. TMP staff, however, assumed tha the figures would be the same as main production run of the figures (maroon 3rd jersey).

As a result, TMP produced an extremely limited run of an entirely different version of the original Roy Colorado figure. As planned these were sold for $35.00 via the Colletlors' Club on a first come first serve basis, as a result of the error it became an exclusive to the collector's club. The stock of club figures was sold-out within about a day. It is assumed that only 200 or so of the Roy White Road Jersey Chase version where made - but actual production numbers are unknown.
